Is Copper safe?
- A recent British study found that Copper and Brass were Bactericidal when used as food prep surfaces .
- It is a safe material to use but we recommend a chopping block for cutting and food prep.
Does Copper scratch?
- Yes, that's part of the country charm. Copper is a soft metal.
- The long term look is distinctly " Country" in nature as these Counters and Sinks will acquire a living finish that changes with time.
Do copper counters tarnish?
- Yes ,in fact we try to accelerate the look by giving them a Patina.
- Copper Counters come with or without a Patinated Finish.
- The process may be partially controlled by waxing with Butchers or Beeswax
- These products may be re-polished for a bright appearance. Re-sanding on site to remove signs of wear and scratches is also a fairly simple process.
- New matte finished copper will start to darken and, over a period of
months, will acquire a unique patina.
Do you "glue up" sheets of copper like Formica type products?
- No. We weld, grind, and polish ,just like the authentic, traditional methods of yore. You will see the difference.
How about undermount sinks?
- No problem, however we can make Copper sinks and weld them into the top so they become integral.
- All Sinks and Counters are actually welded using Copper filler rods, ground and polished for an integral seamless look.
- The thickness of our copper sheets is 1/16" heavy duty material.
Are splash panels just flat sheets of copper?
- They come bonded to a 1/4" backer with finished returned edges.
- The thickness of the backer is variable and may be customized.
- Quilted Splashes are a great addition behind a cook top or above a wood or marble countertop.
Do you make Hoods and other specialties in copper?
- Yes , Custom Hoods and Wall panels are available as well.
How about Pricing?
- Pricing is done in writing, by email or fax.
- You may Fax or send us templates or plans and specs to price and duplicate with precision.
